Annapurna Poon hill trekking is one of the most accessible sunrise points in the Himalayas. It is also known as Poon Hill trek. The Ghorepani trekking trail is very popular short trekking and acquires not to dangers among trekkers visiting Nepal. Annapurna poon hill trekking is an ideal moderate adventure where all kinds of travelers can take part from beginners, family, school/college to corporate people. While this amazing trek takes you to the highest spot at Poon Hill (3,210m/10528ft) without the hassle of altitude sickness. Also, you can marvel the mountain range with a stunning sunrise over Mt. Annapurna 8,091m/26538ft, Mt. Dhaulagiri 8,167m/26787 ft, Nilgiri south 6,230m/20345ft, Annapurna South 7,219m/23678ft, Gangapurna 7,455m/24452ft and Annapurna III at 7,555m/24780ft with Mt. Machapuchare (Fish-tail) 6,997m/22950 ft as far towards Lamjung and Manaslu range of mountains. In addition, the tall rhododendron forest surrounds the lovely village of Ghorepani.

Starting with interesting six hours drive towards mid-west Nepal at famous Pokhara a picturesque touristic place in all Himalaya. While the Annapurna mountain and Fish-Tail peaks reflect on the pristine Phewa Lake, which makes Pokhara  one of the most sought destinations. And it is mild subtropical climate surrounded by rolling green hills in contrast with white snow-capped peaks. 

From Pokhara, a short drive leads towards mid hills and then trekking on the ancient Trans Himalayan Caravan route to Tibet via Mustang and Ghorepani. The poon hill trek leads past several traditional farm villages of Gurung and Thakali people around Nayapul, Bhirethati, Tirkhedhunga, and Hille to reach Ulleri. Consequently, a large Gurung village with stone-slated rooftops after a steep climb on stone steps from Tirkhedhunga and its beautiful waterfalls. Furthermore, you will walk into the nice pleasant alpine forest of rhododendron, pines, hemlocks, oaks and fir trees with views of snow-capped peaks towards North. After a glorious moment heading back to continue trek via an alternative route with much uphill and down-hills leading through villages of Ghandruk, Landrung a large Gurung village with constant views of Annapurna Himalaya, as the trek concludes at Dhampus village with a short drive back to scenic Pokhara.

 

Day 01: Kathmandu to Nayapul (1070m) 8 Hours Drive

 Early Morning 7 AM, 15 Minute Taxi Ride to Intercity bus station and take a Microbus to Nayapul (1070m).Its about 8 hours drive on the Nepal’s Best Himalayan Highway, overnight stay at Tea House Logde

Day 02: Nayapul to Tikhedhunga (1480 M. ) 5 Hours walking on foot

 distance is pretty easy beginning of Poon hill trek with mind blowing driving and sightseeing from Pokhara to NayapulNayapul to Tikhedhunga trek distance is 9.2 kilometers / 5.7 miles. It takes 5   hours to reach Tikhedhungafrom Nayapul via Birethanti, Lamdawali, Sudame and Hile.


Day 03: TikheDhunga - Ghorepani (2,850m/9,350ft),  6 hrs DISTANCE 12.9KM

Cross suspension metal bridge and steep ascent on stone staircases to the village of Ulleri – and an amazing landscape of valley floor where we came during the day with marvelous views of Annapurna South and Hiunchuli.

Steep trek for about 2hrs will take us to Ulleri (2070m). We will cross the Magar village of Banthanti from where we can get spectacular views of Machhapuchhre Mountain (6997m), Hiunchuli Mountain (6441m) and Annapurna South Mountain (7219m).  We will cross the small river and climb to Nangethanti. We will arrive at Ghorepani from where we can get soaring views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Annapurna I and other mountains.

Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani trek is a part of the Poon hill trek which provides an excellent view of the Annapurna and the Dhaulagiri range. Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani distance is 12.9 kilometers / 8 miles. It takes 6 to 7 hours to reach Ghorepani fromTikhedhunga all the way through Ulleri, Banthanti, Nangge thanti.

Day 04: Walk up Poon hill (3,210m/10,528ft). Ghorepani – Tadapani (2,520m/8268ft), 7 hours  12km
Poonhill is popular for best sunrise view in Pokhara. We will rise very early and reach the base of Poonhill. About an hour of climb will take us to Poonhill viewpoint. We can get sunrise view over Dhaulagiri Mountain (8167m), Annapurna I Mountain (8091m), Annapurna II Mountain (7937m), Annapurna III Mountain (7855m), Annapurna IV Mountain (7525m), Annapurna South Mountain (729m), Nilgiri Mountain (6940m), Tukuche Mountain (6920m), Varaha Shikhar (7847m), Lamjung Himal (6931m) and other mountains. We will return to hotel in Ghorepani for breakfast and then take descending trail to Tadapani village from where we can get views of Annapurna South, Annapurna II, Fishtail and other mountains.
 
Day 05: Tadapani – Ghandruk 1,940 m– : 5  Hours hrs trek 9.5 km

 

 Easy walk through forest of oak, rhododendron and other alpine flowers will take us to Ghandruk. Ghandruk is the large Gurung Ethnic village. We can get striking views of Annapurna South, Gangapurna, Machhapuchhre, Annapurna III, Hiunchuli and other Mountains from viewpoint in Ghandruk. Homestay in Ghandruk is a pleasant experience. We will be welcomed by the locals with Khada and traditional dance will be performed in evening in our honor.

 

Day 06:  Ghandruk (1940m) to Landruk (1565m, 5hrs) 
 After breakfast regular day hike will commence again- first you will be drop down to the Modi Khola River bank nearby Bee Hive Teahouse lodge and cross the bridge then the trail goes through hill terraced field climb up to Landruk village. Overnight stay at TEA House Lodge

Day 07: Landruk (1565m) to Deurali (1900m,  5hrs)
We will stay overnight at teahouse eco-village lodge. Today further of Tolka about 2  hours and 3 hours  climb up to the  Deurali .

Day 08: Trek Deurali to  Dhampus (1650m)

Todays next destination is Dampus , Straight plane walking and further up to beautiful Dampus village trail follows through h dense mossy jungle along the ridge of hills. Dhampus village offers you spectacular views of entire Annapurna Himalayan range.

Day 09: Trek Dhampus (1650m) to Phedi (950m, 2-3 hrs) 
Then catch the transportation then drive to Pokhara and transfer to hotel. (Breakfast will be served at teahouse lodge restaurant). All the way follows gradual descent to final point Phedi. You will pass many cultural hamlets and their hill terraced traditional farmland. At ending place you will be picked up by transport and driven to Pokhara for the lunch and rest for overnight at hotel.

Day 10: Next day drive from Pokhara to Katmandu 
It is approximately (7-8 hrs.) by bus or fly to Kathmandu 30 min by STOL flight as you wish to have in your package, transfer to hotel, late noon shopping souvenirs around market and typical Nepali dinner party with culture show.

 ABOUT the Trip out of Kathmandu Valley, I would recommend Langtang TREKKING for about a week. as below. To let you know , I am from Langtang.  yes, there was loss for human being and infrastructure and now all are under re-construction. THE route on given itinerary is totally fixed up and all facilities for tea house lodge is available. It might be good experience for you to see the Himalayan Area in this trekking, how the reconstruction is going on now.
